Pakistan’s efforts to eliminate polio face another challenge following the detection of a new case in Karachi’s Jamali Colony, located in the city’s East district.
According to HUM News English, the latest detection brings Pakistan’s reported polio cases for 2026 to seven, including two cases in Sindh.
Polio is an infectious disease that can damage the nervous system and, in severe cases, cause permanent paralysis. Vaccination remains a crucial tool for protecting children, particularly those who have not completed their recommended doses.
Parents are encouraged to follow routine immunisation schedules and cooperate with official vaccination campaigns. Continued public awareness, improved sanitation and efforts to reach children in every community remain important parts of disease prevention.
The latest report highlights why sustained vaccination coverage and community participation are essential to Pakistan’s long-term polio eradication efforts.
