Pakistan is continuing its diplomatic outreach amid stalled negotiations between Iran and the United States. Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Tehran and held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior officials.
Iranian officials have indicated that progress on Tehran’s conditions would be necessary before negotiations with Washington could resume. The issues include sanctions, regional hostilities and arrangements concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
Pakistan’s mediation efforts could matter for regional stability, trade and energy supplies. However, no final agreement to restart negotiations has been confirmed.
