Washington:(Bolta PakistanHD) Online A new climate assessment from the United Nations Environment Programme warns that global warming remains on a dangerous trajectory.
According to an Associated Press report, the world could experience an additional 1.2°C of warming above current temperatures even if countries fulfil their existing climate pledges. This is 0.1°C higher than the previous year’s estimate.
Under current policy projections, global temperatures could rise by 2.6°C to 2.8°C above pre-industrial levels by 2100.
The findings underline the need for stronger emissions reductions, cleaner energy systems and more effective climate policies to reduce the risks associated with extreme heat and other climate impacts.
