Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has stated that questions are being raised regarding Babar Azam’s place in the ODI team, and the team management is considering dropping him from this format. Speaking on a national television program, Shoaib Akhtar asked the host whether he would select Babar Azam for the ODI side, noting that the team management is contemplating the same issue. However, Shoaib Akhtar clarified that he does not wish to stir up any controversy; in his view, Babar Azam should continue to play, but he must prove through his performance that he is a suitable player for ODI cricket.Shoaib Akhtar also mentioned the challenges faced by Aqib Javed in 50-over cricket and said that it would be difficult to handle this responsibility in both the batting and bowling departments, however, he expressed hope that his assessment would be proven wrong.
