Pakistan's government has announced a new mechanism to make Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) quota allocation more transparent and competitive. Under the proposed arrangement, locally produced LPG will be distributed through supervised competitive auctions, while importing companies will also have to follow clearly defined procedures.
The initiative aims to improve accountability in the gas distribution system and create a more organised environment for suppliers and consumers.
The new mechanism could also help strengthen market competition and reduce concerns about unfair allocation. Its actual impact will depend on effective implementation, regulatory oversight and fair participation by companies.
